Activity vs. Productivity in Agile Teams

In Agile teams, being busy does not automatically mean delivering value. Activity focuses on visible effort—meetings attended, tasks started, and hours logged—while productivity focuses on outcomes that move the team closer to sprint goals and customer value. Actual productivity is measured by meaningful progress: completing high-value work, delivering usable increments, and achieving outcomes that matter. Agile teams succeed when they prioritize impact over motion and outcomes over output.
